Airbus Military selects Thales for A400M Integrated Modular Avionics
21 July 2004
Thales has been selected by Airbus Military to develop and supply the Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) modules for the new A400M military transport aircraft.
The Integrated Modular Avionics solution maximizes the benefits of reuse of the A380 IMA concept and is adapted to the specific requirements of the A400M.
The IMA is a generic and modular platform hosting numerous aircraft functions sharing the same processing and communication resources.
Diehl Avionik Systeme in Germany is working with Thales to design, develop and manufacture the A400M IMA.
This contract confirms the IMA strategy devised for the A380, which allows function suppliers to use common hardware and software development tools produced by Airbus and Thales.
