BAE SYSTEMS TrilogiView "Paperless Manual" Selected For F-35 JSF
19 Jul 2004
BAE Systems trilogiView technical information web browser has been selected for the worlds largest military programme, the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. BAE Systems is already a partner on the programme.
trilogiView will link to the JSF Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS), designed to be the backbone of world-wide support operations. It will provide maintainers and support staff with up-to-the-minute maintenance and training information.
For the Lockheed Martin ALIS team, the selection of trilogi represents a significant step forward for the programme after an exhaustive study.
trilogiView is already adopted in the UK for a wide range of defence assets, including Typhoon, Astute, Type 45, Storm Shadow, CASOM and Brimstone.
“The selection of trilogiView for JSF validates the selection of the same product for MOD use. It ensures that information on this significant platform and all other major MOD platforms will be viewed using the same system and format. This will reduce the training burden for staff using the information,” said Dennis Hoyland, assistant director for Corporate Technical Services at the UK Defence Logistics Organisation.
BAE Systems Customer Solutions & Support group managing director Ian King commented on the selection. We have been working hard over recent years to establish ourselves as the partner of choice in defence support services, infrastructure and technologies. We have developed a suite of compatible IT systems, including trilogiView, to enable and sustain common, streamlined support processes.
“Lockheed Martin have made this selection purely on technical merit from a wide range of candidates. It vindicates the partnering approach we have taken together with the UK MoD and is a major step forward in establishing the product in international markets.”
Under the December 2002 trilogi (TRI-service LOGistics Information) partnering agreement, the UK MOD purchased 30,000 trilogiView browser licences to reduce the cost of providing technical information compared with paper-based manuals and to improve asset availability.
The UK trilogi partnership is enabling support process change. Benefits include a much-simplified and quicker information update cycle, better adherence to maintenance procedures and significant training applications for technical staff.
* In the same week the Italian MoD has selected trilogiView to support its newly-acquired Storm Shadow missiles.
