MNF-Iraq: Combined forces detain six, foil two roadside bomb attacks

MOSUL, IRAQ (July 17, 2004) - Iraqi Security Forces and soldiers from 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) detained six people wanted for anti-Iraqi activities and foiled two roadside bomb attacks Friday in Northern Iraq.

Iraqi Police and Soldiers from the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment conducted a joint cordon and search operation of two buildings in Tal Afar and detained six people wanted for planning and conducting anti-Iraqi attacks. During a search of the buildings, a locker of IED making materials, a night vision scope, three cell phones and intelligence documents were confiscated. No injuries were reported during the operation.

Iraqi Protective Services discovered two separate roadside bombs in the neighborhoods of Al Naja in central Mosul and in Al Hadba in northern Mosul. The Iraqi Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was notified and they destroyed both devices. No injuries were reported during the destruction of the roadside bombs.
