At least two Iraqis were killed and six others were wounded Saturday, during clashes between U.S. Marines and Iraqi insurgents in the restive town of Ramadi, west of Baghdad.

U.S. military officials say the Marines came under fire from a group of insurgents at a taxi stop. No American casualties were reported.

North of Baghdad, in Baquba, insurgents blew up several liquor stores. Officials said a passing taxi driver was killed by one of the blasts.

Meanwhile, further north, in the Kurdish stronghold of Kirkuk, saboteurs attacked a gas pipeline, setting it on fire and shutting it down.

Unknown attackers also burned down a cinema in the city early Saturday.
