RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany (USAFENS) - The NATO Headquarters, Headquarters Allied Air Forces North, located on Ramstein Air Base, Germany, is changing its name July 1 to Component Command-Air Headquarters Ramstein.
The name change reflects the new streamlined NATO Command Structure, which was born in 2002 as a result of the Prague NATO Summit.
The mission of CC-Air HQ Ramstein is designed to meet today's needs and tomorrow's challenges and includes:
Together with a maritime and a land component command, CC-Air HQ Ramstein is under the operational command of Joint Force Command Headquarters Brunssum, formerly Regional Headquarters North Europe, in the Netherlands.
