
Rheinmetall Defence Electronics and IAI Missiles Division sign principles of cooperation for Leopard 1/2 MBT

Today Bremen-based Rheinmetall Defence Electronics GmbH (RDE), Germany, and IAI/MBT Missiles Division (MBT), Israel, signed a cooperation agreement to jointly offer an upgrade kit for the Leopard 1/2 Main Battle Tank with a gun-launched laser homing weapon system (LAHAT).
The LAHAT upgrade extends the effective range of the tank to over 6,000 meters, providing pinpoint precision kill capability against armored targets. The LAHAT weapon system is a cost-effective upgrade that is easily installed in the Leopard tank, and it offers considerable increases to the effective firepower and the survivability of the tank.
IAI/MBT is a leading manufacturer of advanced missile sytems and the developer of LAHAT,
a precision guided gun-fired missile for 105/120 mm guns and launchers.
