Israel Aircraft Industries' MBT Missile Systems Division to Display The Fireball Guided Mortar Bomb System at Eurosatory Exhibition
Jun 14, 2004
Eurosatory - Paris, June 2004 - Israel Aircraft Industries' MBT Missiles Division is to display the Fireball Guided Mortar Bomb System at Eurosatory exhibition, June 14-18 2004.
Fireball is a 120/121 mm mortar bomb with extended range capability and dual-mode GPS & Laser Homing. Fireball has a unique aerodynamic design, giving it almost twice the range of conventional mortar bombs (up to about 15 km). A GPS system guides the bomb, and a Semi-Active Laser seeker enables pinpoint homing on a laser-designated target.
Fireball is designed for surgical first strike capability and it uses a steep dive angle to minimize collateraldamage in urban areas. Fireball can use various warhead and fusing options, including fragmentation against soft targets, percussion against armor and penetration for bunkers and buildings, and it can be fired from rifled or smooth bore mortars.
IAI's MBT Missiles Division specializes in the design and production of sophisticated Missile Systems. The product lines include Marine Attack Missiles; Loitering UAVs that suppress and attack stand-off targets and Precision Guidance Munitions.
