Jun 14, 2004

Eurosatory - Paris, June 2004 - Atthe behest of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd. Ramta Division has designed, manufactures and supplies a completely integrated, best-of-kind, armored Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team vehicle.

Designed to protect EOD team members during operations in hostile environments

Currently in use by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israel Civil and Border Police units, the EOD vehicle includes a completely armor protected crew cabin and internal staging area containing fully integrated mission electronics workstations. Remote-controlled robotic and surveillance systems allow the EOD team to carry out their mission entirely from the safety of the armored vehicle's protected interior, and side and top firing ports/hatches enable crew response to active threats.

Interchangeable / upgradeable mission equipment to sustain optimal mission readiness

All mission systems and equipment, including bomb disposal/neutralization robots, are modular and can be replaced / upgraded in order to sustain optimal mission readiness. The integrated navigation and communication equipment provides accurate and secure information to the crew, and the vehicle is designed with ample armored storage space for mission explosives and equipment.

Access and egress and ergonomics provide safest EOD team work environment

In order to provide the maximum number of access and egress points to the crew, the EOD vehicle has rear and side panel doors, as well as on both sides of the forward crew cabin. There is an additional escape/firing ports around the vehicle. All integrated mission systems and electronics have been ergonomically installed and optimized to minimize crew fatigue and maximize usability.

Ramta is IAI's center of excellence for integrated military ground systems, including light-weight, high-performance armored vehicles, mine breaching, mine clearing, and countermine equipment for use in combat/assault operations, low intensity conflicts and peacetime/ humanitarian demining operations.
