Question Taken at May 25, 2004 Daily Press Briefing
UNSC RESOLUTION ON INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT
Question: What is the U.S. reaction to Security Council's deferring a vote on the renewal of the resolution on International Criminal Court?
Answer: The vote was deferred, but we expect it will be taken up in due course. A technical rollover of Resolution 1487 remains a U.S. priority.
[Editor's Note: Extension of resolution 1487 would exempt from prosecution by the International Criminal Court (ICC) United Nations peacekeepers from countries not party to the Court's Statute for a 12-month period beginning on July 1, 2004].
