COMBINED FORCES COMMAND AFGHANISTAN

KABUL, Afghanistan - LTG David Barno, Combined Forces Command - Afghanistan, commander, has directed a "top to bottom" general officer led review and assessment of all coalition detention and holding operations in Afghanistan.

The appointed general will physically visit every facility to ensure internationally accepted standards of handling detainees are being met. The appointed general will ensure facilities are adequate, procedures are in accordance with the spirit of the Geneva Conventions and are being followed correctly and fully, and that staffing and capabilities are adequate to the task.

Conclusions and recommendations of the review will be reported back to General Barno by mid-June.

Three weapons caches were found Sunday and Tuesday during cordon and search operations in the vicinity of Tarin Kowt uncovering multiple rifles, ammunition and explosive equipment.

Today, the Qal-E-Kashef high school will be opening in Kabul.

Tomorrow the Republic of Korea's 924th Medical Support Group will celebrate its successes for the past 19 months at a ceremony commemorating the treatment of the 100,000th patient. The ceremony will be held at the Korean Hospital, Bagram Air Field at 9:15 a.m.
