USS SALT LAKE CITY (SSN 716) deploys

NAVAL BASE POINT LOMA -- USS SALT LAKE CITY (SSN 716) departed San Diego recently for a Western Pacific deployment. The Los Angeles-class attack submarine and her crew of more than 135 will be conducting operations throughout the Western Pacific.
According Cmdr. Tracy Howard, the submarine's Commanding Officer, the boat and crew are ready. "The boat is in exceptional condition and we are ready to deploy and do our mission," he said. "We've been well prepared and trained - we're in great shape."
