FIVE SAILORS, ONE SOLDIER KILLED IN INDIRECT FIRE ATTACK
CAMP FALLUJAH, Iraq -- Five U.S. Navy sailors and one U.S. Army soldier assigned to I Marine Expeditionary Force were killed May 2 in an indirect fire attack on a military installation in the Al Anbar Province.
Three sailors were killed in action while two sailors died of wounds received in action. The soldier died of wounds received in action.
I MEF force protection measures preclude the release of any information that could aid enemy personnel in assessing the effectiveness or lack thereof with regard to their tactics, techniques and procedures. The release of more details about the incident could place our personnel at greater risk.
The names of the deceased are being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
