USS Coronado arrives in Subic Bay

SUBIC BAY, Republic of the Philippines -- USS Coronado (AGF 11) and the embarked U.S. Seventh Fleet Staff arrived here April 23 for a regularly scheduled port visit. This visit is a demonstration of the continuing friendship between the Republic of the Philippines and the United States.
The port visit also gives the more than 450 Sailors, civilian mariners and Seventh Fleet staff members embarked aboard Coronado a chance to experience the unique culture of the Philippines, sightsee, and participate in community service projects.
"We're very proud to be here," said Capt. Chris Noble, Coronado's commanding officer. "I appreciate the opportunity to enrich the long-standing relationship our two peoples, and our two countries share. It's good to be come here and renew that."
Coronado is the temporary flagship of the Seventh Fleet and supports a variety of missions with a robust communications suite, allowing the Seventh Fleet commander, Vice Adm. Robert F. Willard, to direct U.S. naval forces in the region. Seventh Fleet in normally embarked aboard USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19). Currently, Blue Ridge is undergoing a routine dry dock maintenance period.
