
General Dynamics Awarded $26 Million Contract for Advanced Life Support Technologies and Research
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The U.S. Air Force has awarded General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract for Advanced Life Support Technologies and Research (ALSTAR). The total potential value of the contract if all options are exercised is $26 million. Through ALSTAR, General Dynamics will provide research, support and evaluation of new life support technologies, spatial disorientation, warfighter fatigue, acceleration and altitude protection; and biodynamics research, modeling and simulation.
The first delivery order under the new contract is valued at $5.7 million for one year of support to the Air Force Research Laboratory, Human Effectiveness Directorate, Biosciences and Protection Division. The required research will develop new and innovative technologies to improve aircrew protective equipment, reduce fatalities and injuries, and enhance procedures and training methodologies. The contract will build the foundation for the Human Systems Center of Excellence (COE) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
Work will be performed at Brooks City-Base, Texas and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The contract was awarded in the name of Veridian Engineering, which was acquired by General Dynamics on August 11, 2003.
