COMBINED FORCES COMMAND AFGHANISTAN RELEASE

KABUL, Afghanistan -- In coordination with the Islamic Transitional Government of Afghanistan, Combined Forces Command-Afghanistan continues to train the Afghan National Army, provide civil affairs support, and disrupt, deny, and destroy terrorist and anti-ITGA forces in order to establish a stable and secure Afghanistan.

A ceremony, marking the Transfer of Authority from the 10th Mountain Division to the 25th Infantry Division (L), will be held at Bagram Air Field on Thursday, 15 April, 2004.

On Monday, US forces reported weapons recovery in the vicinity of the 14th Afghan Militia Forces weapons depot. The items found were several 57mm and 76mm antitank guns, 2 M1938 122mm guns, a D30 122 mm gun, a BM12 107 mm rocket launcher, a ZPU 14.5mm anti-aircraft artillery gun and a 12.7mm HMG.

Yesterday near Ghazni, 2 PMN land mines, assorted mortar, rifle, tank rounds and fuses were found. The ordnance was destroyed in place and the cave in which it was stored was collapsed. Also north of Khowst, Coalition Forces found 680 12.7mm rounds, a Chinese type 69-1 RPG, 6 Chinese 82mm mortars, 6 2MP-1B, 27 Chinese type 52 75mm rounds, a 107mm type 63-2 rocket, an Italian TC-6 antitank mine and 200 Yugo UTM 68P1 fuses.
