Two missing German security troopers feared dead in Iraq

Berlin, April 11, IRNA -- Two missing German security troopers are believed to have been killed during an attack on their convoy near the Iraqi town of Fallujah, the media reported here Sunday. DPA quoted a German Foreign Ministry spokeswoman as saying that the two men, members of the elite GSG-9 security forces, are "in all likelihood dead". She added a "final confirmation" would only come after the men`s bodies had been properly identified. The two German security officials who were stationed at the German embassy in Baghdad, had gone missing since Wednesday while traveling from Amman, Jordan to the Iraqi capital. A number of foreigners, among them Japanese and other western citizens, have been kidnapped in Iraq in recent days after stepped up military clashes between US-led occupying forces and Iraqi resistance fighters.
