COMBINED FORCES COMMAND AFGHANISTAN RELEASE
KABUL, Afghanistan -- In coordination with the Islamic Transitional Government of Afghanistan, Combined Forces Command-Afghanistan continues to train the Afghan National Army, provide civil affairs support, and disrupt, deny, and destroy terrorist and anti-ITGA forces in order to establish a stable and secure Afghanistan.
During a cordon and search patrol Wednesday, US forces found a small cache of weapons and munitions south of Khowst, which consisted of several blasting caps, passports, and over 100 7.62 AP and tracer rounds. Two Afghans were detained and questioned as a result of this search.
On Thursday southeast of Ghazni, Coalition soldiers confiscated nearly 30 SA-13 guided missiles, nearly 400 76 mm M99 AT cannon projectiles and rockets, 11 guided missile tail sections, over 50 S-5K-P1 57 mm rockets, over 20 57 mm projectiles, several 122 mm projectiles, over 5000 fuses of various types, several 14.5 and 23 mm weapons components.
Also on Thursday in the vicinity of Sarobi District, a box of demolitions was found at a bakery containing detonators and fuses to 107mm rockets. Also in Gardez, the Gardez Police Chief turned in 400 AK-47s, several 14.5 and 23 mm A/A weapon components.
Yesterday, in a compound north of Deh Rawood, coalition forces found a 107 mm rocket, an AT mine, wire with battery, and Taliban/Al-Qaeda propaganda.
Today, there will be two school opening ceremonies, the Kando Girl's School in Jalalabad and the Wurzi School in Khowst.
Tomorrow, a new courthouse opening ceremony is scheduled in Gardez.
