ATK Tank Ammunition Deliveries Exceed 3.4 Million Rounds

Apr 6, 2004

Minneapolis, April 6, 2004 – ATK (Alliant Techsystems, NYSE: ATK) has received new contracts in excess of $38 million from the U.S. Army’s Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) at the Picatinny Arsenal, N.J. Under the contracts, ATK will provide 120mm tactical ammunition for the Army’s M1A1/A2 Abrams main battle tanks. Deliveries will be completed by November 2005. The Project Manager, Maneuver Ammunition Systems, manages the contract for the Army and Marine Corps.

The awards are for kinetic energy and multipurpose combat ammunition rounds. These rounds use advanced composite sabot technology, advanced warheads, and improved propulsion designs to increase range and lethality.

"ATK is proud to provide U.S. armed forces and our allies with the most advanced ammunition in the world," said John Shroyer, president, ATK Ordnance and Ground Systems. "Since 1984, ATK has delivered more than 3.4 million rounds to our customer."

ATK has been the systems contractor for 120mm tank ammunition for over 20 years and produces a complete family of tactical and training rounds for main battle tanks. The company is also developing the U.S. Army’s next-generation combat and training ammunition for the Abrams tank and future combat systems.

ATK is a $2.3 billion aerospace and defense systems company. News and information can be found on the Internet at www.atk.com.
