Indian Army opens new battle training school for J&K troops

New Delhi, April 1, IRNA -- Faced with charges of human rights violations, the Indian Army on Wednesday opened a new battle training school in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, which will aim to sensitize soldiers on humanitarian issues and preventing collateral damages. According to the Asian Age, a New Delhi-based English daily, the third battle school was opened at Bhatra in the Doda district by Army chief Gen. N.C Vij. It will impart anti-terrorist training to new units of Rashtriya Rifles which are being formed to fight militancy in the state. The new corps. battle school will cater to anti-terrorists operations in Rajouri and Doda districts. The officials said that it will also train the newly set up territorial Army (home and hearth) units consisting of locals from the border areas along the line of control. The local men folk were recently inducted into territorial Army for fighting the militancy alongside the armed forces. The officials said that school will also impart special technical details which are different from conventional warfare and are needed to fight terrorism. Special emphasis would be laid on sensitizing soldiers on the need to use minimal force avoiding collateral damage. The soldiers will be told not to put general public to much inconvenience during operations and they should respect human rights. 2160/216 End
