Iraqi Civilians Killed, Wounded by Insurgent Attacks in Northern Iraq
MOSUL, Iraq -
Eight Iraqi civilians were killed by indiscriminate anti-Coalition
mortar and rocket attacks in northern Iraq April 14.
Four Iraqi civilians were killed and seven wounded when insurgents
fired two Katushya rockets into a crowded market place in Mosul around
12:30 p.m.
Another two Iraqi civilians were killed and eight civilians and two
Coalition soldiers were wounded when attackers fired seven mortar
rounds and a rocket-propelled grenade at a Coalition compound near
Tall Afar around 8:44 pm. Iraqi police assisted with the evacuation of
civilians to local treatment centers. Neither soldier was seriously
injured.
In still another attack, a 60-year-old Iraqi male and a 10-year-old
Iraqi boy were killed when attackers fired two Katushya Rockets into a
house in downtown Mosul around 9:50 p.m.
Anti-Coalition forces continue to indiscriminately fire mortars and
rockets in populated areas, often missing their military targets and
killing and injuring innocent civilians, and damaging property in
Mosul and the surrounding region.
