LONDON, England – The UK Ministry of Defence announced today that the BOWMAN tactical communications system has achieved its formal In Service Date (ISD).

The next major element in the BOWMAN program, called the ComBat Infrastructure and Platform BISA or CIP, will be delivered incrementally, and will be fielded in July 2004 with full operational in 2006. The contract for the CIP element was awarded in December 2002.

Larry Johnson, President and Managing Director of General Dynamics UK said, “We are proud to have provided the UK Armed Forces with BOWMAN. Delivering ISD early is a considerable achievement and demonstrates what can be accomplished when industry, the MoD and the Armed Forces work closely together. ”
