
General Dynamics Awarded Potential $240 Million Contract for MK80 Series Bomb Body Production
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command at Rock Island, Ill., has awarded General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), a $103.9 million modification to a firm-fixed priced contract for the production of MK80 Series bomb bodies. The contract, consisting of a base award and two options, has a total projected value, with all options exercised, of $240 million.
Production under this contract includes both inert and live bomb bodies in the 500-pound, 1000-pound and 2000-pound classes and will be performed at the company’s Garland, Texas, manufacturing facility. Work is expected to be completed by Sept. 2005.
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems manufactures large- and medium-caliber ammunition, bomb bodies and precision metal components; provides explosive load, assemble and pack services for a variety of tactical missile and rocket programs; and designs and produces shaped charge warheads and control actuator systems.
General Dynamics, headquartered in Falls Church, Virginia, employs approximately 67,600 people worldwide and had 2003 revenue of $16.6 billion.
