Boxer makes port visit to Goa

GOA, India - USS Boxer (LHD 4) arrived here March 9 for its first port visit after participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Arabian Gulf.
While in port, the ships' approximately 1,100 Sailors and Marines will have a chance to participate in friendship and goodwill activities and interact with local people and officials.
Boxer, a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship, is homeported in San Diego and commanded by Capt. T. D. Crowley. The ship departed San Diego on Jan. 14 for a second deployment in less than a year to support troop rotations in Iraq, and was recently awarded the Commander, Naval Surface Forces, Pacific, Battle Efficiency Award for 2003. The ship is scheduled to return to San Diego in late April.
