Pratt & Whitney to Power New Boeing KC-767A Tankers

EAST HARTFORD, CONN., March 3, 2004 - Boeing has selected Pratt & Whitney’s (P&W) PW4062 engine for the 767 Global Tanker Transport Aircraft Program. As a result, Pratt & Whitney’s PW4062 engine will be the standard production engine offering for all future 767 Tanker Programs, both domestic and international. This selection represents the first military application for the PW4000 engine family.

The 94-inch PW4000 can be found on the twin-aisle Boeing 747-400, Boeing 767, Boeing MD-11, Airbus A300 and Airbus A310. It is operated by more than 65 airlines around the world, and has more than 60 million hours of experience since entering revenue service in 1987. The worldwide installed base of the 94-inch PW4000 engine family encompasses more than 2000 engines

Pratt & Whitney military engines are built and supported in facilities located in Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Oklahoma, Texas and West Virginia. Models include the F119 powering the F/A-22 Raptor; the F135 for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter; the F117 for the C-17 Globemaster III; the F100 for F-15 and F-16 fighters; the J52 for the EA-6B Prowler; the TF33 powering AWACS, Joint STARS, B-52, C-141 and KC-135 aircraft; the PT6 for T-6A, C-12, T-34C and UH-1N aircraft; and the JT15 for the T-1A, UC-35A, and the Pegasus UCAV.
