IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
New Delhi, Feb 20, IRNA -- US Pacific Air Force spokesman Major James W Law on Friday said Indo-US joint combat exercise would further strengthen Indo-American ties. Law told reporters in Gwalior in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh that the fighter pilots of the Indian Air Force (IAF) have demonstrated high standards of flying abilities and competence during the joint exercise, which is being held in Gwalior from Feb 16 to 25, reported Press Trust of India. Law said, Americans were impressed not only by the competence and skills of the Indian pilots but also by the good standards of communications and radar systems here as well as the maintenance arrangements. For the US Air Force personnel, the exercise provided an opportunity to fly Sukhoi-30 fighter aircraft and it is a "new experience for us," he said. During the joint exercise, considered to be the first of its kind in joint venture with the US in combat aircraft, American Air Force personnel are providing operational training and sharing information with their Indian counterparts. The US side have brought F-15 aircraft, capable of penetrating enemy defense, for the exercise to the Air Force base in Gwalior, while the US crew are getting experience with diverse aircraft, including MiGs, Mirages and Jaguars, besides Sukhoi-30. Major Law said, while the fundamentals of flying remained by and large the same, technological levels of different aircraft being used made a difference. 2160/210 End
