Georgia and Abkhazia reopen peace talks - UN10 February 2004 Representatives from Georgia and Abkhazia held a second meeting on the issue of security guarantees today, according to a United Nations spokesman.
The two sides reiterated their commitment to the non-resumption of hostilities and the settlement of all disputes by peaceful means, the spokesman said at a press briefing in New York.
The meeting in Georgia was conducted under the chairmanship of Secretary-General Kofi Annan's Special Representative for Georgia, Heidi Tagliavini and also involved the Group of Friends of the Secretary-General.
The next meeting on security guarantees will take place on 20 May.
