India test fires Surface-to-Air Trishul missile

New Delhi, Feb 10, IRNA -- Indian defense scientists test-fired the short range surface-to-air missile Trishul from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, 15 kms from Balasore in the Eastern Indian State of Orissa on Tuesday, defense sources said. India`s Doordarshan, an official News channel, on Tuesday said the surface-to-air missile capable of supersonic speed, can hit targets, both in air and on land, within a distance of 300 meters to nine kms, and it was test fired from a mobile launcher at 11:20 a.m. local time). The solid fuel propellant Trishul has a capacity to carry 15-kg of warhead and has been developed to suit the needs of all the three defense services in India. The missile, three meters long and 200 cm in diameter, is part of India`s Integrated Guided Missile Development Program (IGMDP). 2160/216 End
