COMBINED FORCES COMMAND - AFGHANISTAN RELEASE
KABUL, Afghanistan -- In coordination with the Islamic Transitional Government of Afghanistan, Combined Forces Command-Afghanistan continues to train the Afghan National Army, provide civil affairs support, and disrupt, deny, and destroy terrorist and anti-ITGA forces in order to establish a stable and secure Afghanistan.
Sunday, an Afghan turned over to coalition forces in Orgun-E a small weapons cache. Also Sunday, Coalition forces discovered a weapons cache near Khowst consisting of tens of mines and mortar rounds and a weapons cache near Qalat with hundreds of 107mm rockets.
The Coalition continues to prepare for the official opening of the Asadabad Provincial Reconstruction Team later this month. The Ghazni and Khowst PRTs will officially open in March. These new PRTs are part of our shifting emphasis to a long-term strategy of national stability and support.
