General Dynamics Awarded $89 Million in Defense Contracts

FALLS CHURCH, Va. – General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) announced today that four of its business units – General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, Charlotte, N.C.; General Dynamics Land Systems, Sterling Heights, Mich.; General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, Arlington, Va. – this week were awarded Defense Department contracts worth more than $89 million.

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products was awarded two contracts totaling $31 million by the U.S. Army Robert Morris Acquisition Center, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. The first award was a $25 million modification to a firm-fixed price contract for joint biological point detection systems (JBPDS). The second was a $6 million modification to a firm-fixed-price contract for manufacture and delivery of 16 JBPDS initial fielding packages. Work will be completed in Deland, Fla.

General Dynamics Land Systems was awarded a $38.8 million delivery order by the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Warren, Mich., as part of a $232.8 million firm-fixed-price contract to convert 125 M1A1 Abrams tanks to the Abrams Integrated Management (AIM) configuration. Work will be performed in Lima, Ohio (77 percent); Scranton, Pa. (20 percent); and Muskegon, Mich. (3 percent), and is expected to be completed by June 30, 2005.

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems was awarded a $10.7 million modification to a firm-fixed price contract by the U.S. Army Field Support Command, Rock Island, Ill., for 427,800 20mm PGU-28A/B LKD PGU-30A/B Target Practice-Tracer cartridges for AH-1W Cobra helicopters. Work will be performed in Marion, Ill., and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2004.

General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems was awarded an $8.4 million cost-plus-fixed-fee modification under a previously awarded contract by the Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., for engineering and analysis support in the implementation of the technology insertion/refreshment for the Virginia Class submarine non-propulsion electronics system. This award was made in the name of Digital System Resources Inc., which General Dynamics acquired in Sept. 2003. Work is expected to be completed by Feb. 2005.
