State Department: U.S. Supports Mostar Statute
Boucher says U.S. supports decision of EU High Representative Paddy Ashdown
State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said January 29 that the United States "welcomes the decision taken by High Representative Paddy Ashdown to enact a new Statute of the city of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina."
Ashdown, the European Union's High Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina, issued a decree January 28 that transforms the six separate municipalities in Mostar into a single assembly and administration.

BOSNIA AND HERCEGOVINA: U.S. SUPPORT FOR MOSTAR STATUTE
The U.S. Government welcomes the decision taken by High Representative Paddy Ashdown to enact a new Statute of the city of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Statute provides for a single city administration with appropriate power-sharing and other mechanisms to protect the rights of all Mostar's citizens, and will create the basis for a secure and prosperous future for Mostar.
