
General Dynamics Network Systems Awarded $6 Million to Enhance Army Communication Systems
Contracts Will Modernize Telecom Infrastructure in Kuwait and at 31 Installations Worldwide
NEEDHAM, Mass. – The U.S. Army has awarded General Dynamics Network Systems orders totaling approximately $6 million to enhance Army communication systems around the world. General Dynamics Network Systems is a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD).
In the Middle East, the company will re-locate and upgrade an MSL-100 switching system to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. As part of this $4.9 million order, issued under the US Army's Long Term Life Cycle Support contract (LTLCS), General Dynamics will engineer, furnish, install and test the Nortel switch upgrade. LTLCS provides a comprehensive range of support services for digital switching systems, subsystems, peripheral equipment, and various network and telephone management systems.
The U.S. Army has also awarded General Dynamics an order to modernize the telecommunications infrastructure at 31 installations around the world under a contract called the Digital Switched Systems Modernization Program (DSSMP). Awarded by the Army’s Communications-Electronics Command Acquisition Center, Fort Monmouth, N.J., this assignment is valued at approximately $1 million. Program oversight for both awards will be provided by the Project Manager, Defense Communications and Army Switched Systems, of the Army's Program Executive Office, Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS).
