Lockheed Martin Broad Industry Announcement Seeks Business Interested in Chilean Opportunities

Moorestown, NJ, January 9th, 2004 -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) issued a broad industry announcement today seeking proposals from parties who are either currently doing business in Chile and wish to expand their operations, or from parties who are interested in developing a presence in Chile in support of Lockheed Martin's bid for involvement in the Chilean Fragata Program.

The government of Chile's Fragata acquisition program will modernize the Chilean Navy by procuring three modern frigate-size surface combatants. A team led by Lockheed Martin and Spain's IZAR is bidding to provide these ships in an offering that includes hull, sensor, combat system and logistical support solutions.

The Chilean government requires that all teams bidding on the program offer an industrial cooperation (IC) package, along with a technical solution and commercial proposal. The Lockheed Martin/IZAR team is assembling a comprehensive commercial IC package, consisting of projects involving companies both in Chile and abroad, including projects not directly related to the Fragata program.

Lockheed Martin is prepared to offer grants of capital, extensive marketing support in Chile, and financial analysis and support through Santander Investments to companies who present superior business cases for projects to cooperate with Chilean industry in the IT, electronics, biotechnology, metalworking, or food and wine distribution industries.
