TASK FORCE "ALL AMERICAN" CONFISCATES WEAPONS, EMPLOYS IRAQIS
RAMADI, Iraq - The 82nd Airborne Division and its subordinate units, also know as Task Force "All American", continued missions over the last day to bring peace and prosperity to the residents of the Al Anbar province.
During the last 24 hours, the 82nd Airborne Division and subordinate units conducted 196 patrols, 16 of which were joint patrols with Iraqis, and carried out five offensive operations. During these operations, 27 enemy personnel were captured. Entry was denied to 55 personnel at the border crossing at Trebil all due to insufficient documentation.
In 3rd Brigade's area, paratroopers conducted a cordon and search near Al Karmah. The operation resulted in the capture of six enemy personnel, including the two primary targets of the mission, and the confiscation of five AK-47s, a 9mm pistol, eight grenade fuses, blasting caps, detonation cord, miscellaneous documents. The soldiers also discovered and disarmed an IED during the conduct of the operation.
In 1st Brigade's area, soldiers were attacked with small arms fire in northern Khalidiyah. The unit returned fire into a 2-story house and a ground QRF was dispatched to reinforce the unit. The soldiers conducted a hasty cordon and search of the compound and captured three enemy personnel while confiscating two AK-47s, two Iraqi passports, and a 9mm magazine.
Task Force "All American" employed hundreds of Iraqis yesterday to help clear the massive amount of Captured Enemy Arms. The combined effort resulted in the evacuation of 158 short tons of munitions and the demilling of an additional 61 short tons.
Soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, and the 1st Infantry Division continue to work with the people of Al Anbar to secure a successful future for the citizens of Iraq.
