INTRO: Zimbabwe's health minister says he does not believe that an Angolan who died at Christmas at the tourist resort of Victoria Falls had the deadly

disease Ebola. Peta Thornycroft reports from Harare

TEXT: The Zimbabwean health minister, Dr. David Parirenyatwa, says hemorrhagic fever, rather than Ebola, appears to be what killed an Angolan cross-border trader.

Dr. Parirenyatwa said the Ministry of Health was working closely with the World Health Organization to contain the suspected hemorrhagic virus, which he did not identify.

Tissue samples from the dead man have been sent to a laboratory in South Africa, and results are expected within a few days, according to the Health Ministry.

Meanwhile, Dr. Parirenyatwa said, the Ministry of Health had sent officials to monitor arrivals at a northern border post. (Signed)
