Strong blasts jolt Baghdad city center
IRNA
Baghdad, Dec 25, IRNA -- The sound of a series of strong bomb blasts was heard in Baghdad city center late Wednesday that shook the residential houses repeatedly. Some 12 bomb blasts were heard around 11:30 pm local time in Baghdad, whose citizens have been suffering a 48 hour electricity failure, and caused panic and horror among them. The US army sources confirmed that bomb blasts shook Baghdad late Wednesday night but could not identify whether the blasts were due to insurgency operations, or the military activities of the coalition forces. The AFP reporter from Baghdad, too, has reported that the bomb blasts occurred in a region of the Iraqi capital where the Sheraton and Palestine hotels, and the residence of most foreigners living in Baghdad are located. An eye witness, too, said that a few rockets were shot from an automobile towards those hotels, that are heavily guarded by the US military forces. NA/214 End
