TASK FORCE "ALL AMERICAN" GRADUATES ICDC CLASS, HELPS SCHOOLS
AR RAMADI, Iraq - Soldiers from Task Force "All American" continued missions to increase stability and security for the people of Al Anbar yesterday.
During the last 24 hours, the 82nd Airborne Division and subordinate units conducted 170 patrols, including four joint patrols with Iraqi national elements, and three offensive operations, which resulted in the capture of 12 enemy personnel.
Last night in 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division's area, soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment conducted a cordon and search of two target areas in Fallujah. The operation resulted in the capture of 10 enemy personnel and confiscation of $150,000 in American currency and a collection of anti-coalition, extremist literature.
Today at Forward Operating Base Junction City, 170 Iraqis graduated the Iraqi Civil Defense Corps class. ICDC classes will continue to train and prepare Iraqis to help assist coalition forces provide security throughout the country.
Civil affairs personnel working with 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division distributed school supplies and installed heaters in the newly renovated Al Saief School in Lutafiyah. They are also working with local officials to improve safety at the school, including reducing the speed of traffic near the school during peak hours. Civil Affairs teams with 3rd ACR organized the acquisition and delivery of eight environmental control units for schools in Al Qa'im. Over 300 students will benefit with an improved learning atmosphere once the units have been installed and a moderate temperature can be sustained.
