
General Dynamics Awarded $9.6M Ammunition Contract
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Department of the Army Headquarters, Field Support Command, Rock Island, Ill. has awarded a $9.6 million contract to General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), for the production of 20mm PGU-27A/B Target Practice (TP) Cartridges. Work will be performed at the company’s Marion, Ill., facility and is expected to be completed by April 2005.
PGU-27A/B ammunition is used by the U.S. Navy and Air Force in the F-14, F-15, F-16 and F/A-18 fixed-wing aircraft and the AH-1 Cobra helicopter. Developed by General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems under contract from the U.S. Navy, this round represents the most advanced family of 20mm ammunition. General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems has delivered more than 306 million rounds of medium-caliber ammunition to the U.S. government and allied and friendly nations.
