Two Soldiers Killed, Four Wounded in Separate Mosul Attacks

WASHINGTON, Dec. 10, 2003 - Two American soldiers were killed by insurgents in
separate attacks in the Iraqi city of Mosul today, according to
U.S. Central Command.

In east Mosul, a 101st Airborne Division soldier was killed and another was wounded, a CENTCOM news release reported, when insurgents mounted a late-morning assault with small-arms fire from two vehicles.

Later in the day, one 101st Airborne Division soldier was killed and three were wounded in Mosul as their convoy encountered an improvised explosive device and came under small-arms fire, according to another CENTCOM news release.

The names of the killed and wounded are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Both attacks are being investigated.
