HELICOPTER MAKES AN EMERGENCY LANDING NEAR FALLUJAH
FALLUJAH, Iraq - At approximately 1430 today, an OH-58D, Kiowa Helicopter of the 1/82d Aviation Brigade (Attack), took fire south of Fallujah. The helicopter was conducting a reconnaissance/security mission when it was forced to make an emergency landing.
The 82d Airborne Division immediately dispatched a ground and aerial Quick Reaction Force (QRF) while the downed aircraft's wingman continued to provide over-watch for the crew on the ground.
Recovery teams quickly responded to evaluate the site and secure the two pilots. The pilots were able to walk away from the site with minimal injuries.
