TASK FORCE "ALL AMERICAN" - Summary of operations, Dec 6
The 82d Airborne Division, also known as the "All American" division, continued operations within the Al Anbar province providing security assistance to the Iraqi people. Progress in security is enabling uninterrupted reconstruction efforts. These missions will assist in moving Iraq toward a free and sovereign nation.
During the past 24 hours, the 82nd Airborne Division and subordinate units have conducted eight offensive operations; six cordon and searches, one raid, and a mission consisting of nine simultaneous tactical checkpoints setup to prevent anti-coalition activities. Soldiers also conducted 176 patrols, including 11 joint patrols with the Iraqi Border Guard and Iraqi police. During these operations, 38 enemy personnel were captured.
Elements conducted five cordon and searches east of Ar Ramadi along Highway 10. They were designed to capture or kill personnel who have been conducting IED attacks and supporting anti-coalition activities. The operation resulted in the capture of 29 enemy personnel for questioning.
Civil affairs teams are working with local officials in Iskandariyah to rehabilitate 19 primary and secondary schools in the area. The CPA-funded projects will cost $340,000 and will positively affect over 5000 students. These rehabilitative efforts will provide jobs to local Iraqis who will complete the repairs. Civil affairs personnel met with two secondary schools in Saqlawiyah and submitted project requests to initiate repairs at the schools. Contractors have been identified and work is scheduled to begin on 15 December. The renovations will enhance the education of 800 students.
Soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division, 1st Infantry Division, and 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment remain committed in rebuilding Iraq and ending violence throughout the Al Anbar province.
