Indian Air Force MiG 29 crashes in Punjab, pilot bails out

New Delhi, Dec 4, IRNA -- A MiG-29 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed near Adampur in Western Indian State of Punjab`s Hoshiarpur district with the pilot bailing out safely. The aircraft developed some snag during routine flying and crashed 25 kilometers south-east of Adampur air-base at 12:43 p.m. (local time), an IAF spokesperson said adding the pilot Squadron-Leader P.J. Mohammed bailed out to safety. The MiG-29, which are the front line aircraft of the force, have had a good safety record so far with only 2-3 crashes since their induction in late 1980s. IAF has ordered a court of inquiry into the crash. /AA/215 End
