General Dynamics Awarded $11 Million Contract Modification for Navy Common Network Interface
ARLINGTON, Va. – The U. S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), an $11 million modification to a previously awarded contract to provide for the continued development of the Common Network Interface.
The Common Network Interface is a software package intended as an upgrade to combat systems aboard several classes of Navy combatant ships. The interface receives inputs from sensors and data links, resolves dual tracks and other inconsistencies, and then outputs the results to display devices and other command and control systems, presenting the decision maker with a clearer picture of the battlespace than might otherwise be available.
This contract modifies an award originally received by Digital Systems Resources, Inc., on July 25. Digital Systems Resources was acquired by General Dynamics and became part of General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems on September 10. The total value of the contract, including this modification, is $49,778,443.
Work under this contract will include systems engineering, architecture design, software engineering, prototype development, integration, development and testing. Work will be performed in Fairfax, Virginia. Work under this modification is expected to be completed in September 2004; the overall contract runs through July 2008.
General Dynamics, headquartered in Falls Church, Virginia, employs approximately 66,900 people worldwide and anticipates 2003 revenues of approximately $16.1 billion. The company has leading market positions in mission-critical information systems and technologies, land and amphibious combat systems, shipbuilding and marine systems, and business aviation.
