Iraq: Three U.S. Soldiers Killed By Roadside Bombs

Baghdad, 9 November 2003 (RFE/RL) -- The U.S. Army says that a roadside-bomb attack in the Iraqi capital Baghdad yesterday evening killed a U.S. soldier and wounded another, after a bomb attack in Al-Fallujah killed two earlier that day.

The attack brings to at least 150 the number of U.S. soldiers killed in action since major combat was declared over on 1 May.

Also yesterday, two more soldiers were killed and one wounded by a roadside bomb in the town of Al-Fallujah, west of Baghdad.

Washington blames loyalists of ousted President Saddam Hussein and foreign guerrillas for the increasing attacks on the U.S.-led occupation forces in Iraq.

The internal security chief of the southern port city of Al-Basrah, Colonel Muhammad Qazen al-Ali, said a British military vehicle was hit by an explosion this morning. No casualties are reported.
