US general calls Iraq crisis `homemade`
IRNA
Berlin, Nov 4, IRNA -- NATO`s Commander-in-Chief and Commander of the US troops in Europe General James L Jones here Tuesday said Iraq`s worsening crisis situation was largely caused by internal factors rather than external interference. "The picture (on Iraq) is unclear. The general amount of external influence (in Iraq) is unclear. Most problems in Iraq are homemade," Jones told the Berlin-based foreign media. "The problem is in the west (of Iraq), the Sunni triangle," he added. The US military leader rejected the international media`s `Second Vietnam` analogy of Iraq, saying it was `way too premature to make the analogy`. "I served in Vietnam, I don`t see a similarity. We learned a lot of lessons from Vietnam. I do worry however that every time anything happens, someone draws the Vietnam analogy," he added. Meanwhile Jones pointed out that the Middle East and Africa will be NATO`s `focus of interest`. OT/AH/210 End
