INTRO: A series of explosions rocked Baghdad Monday night, but apparently caused no casualties, according to the U-S military in Baghdad. V-O-A's Greg LaMotte is in the Iraqi capital with the details.

TEXT: Three mortar rounds hit central Baghdad, causing explosions that could be heard throughout the capital.

The explosions occurred near the headquarters of the Coalition Provisional Authority.

According to the military, one of the mortars hit an empty shower facility in central Baghdad.

The mortar attack comes at a time when people in Baghdad say they are more on edge, following a series of attacks last week that killed dozens of people and wounded hundreds.

Sixteen U-S soldiers were killed Sunday, when an Army transport helicopter was shot down near the town of Fallujah.

Sunday night, leaflets appeared in various parts of Baghdad, warning Iraqi police officers they would be targeted for assassination, if they continue to aid coalition forces. (SIGNED)
