During the course of the newest heavy military clash between the joint US-Afghan National Army forces on one side, and Afghan para-military forces whom the Americans claim are Taliban remnants on the other, one US soldier and one of the assailants on them got killed on Friday and a large number of both sides` forces got injured. An Afghan intelligence source told IRNA on Friday, "The heavy ilitary confrontation took place on Friday morning in Arzegan province when a large group of assailants opened fire on the US-Afghan National Army forces." Arzegan is one of the four southern Afghan provinces, in which the international assistance forces have stopped offering services due to the severeness of working conditions and death threat because of military activities of the the groups involved. During the past few months, such surprise attacks have been launched at dozens of occasions against US and Afghan forces in southern and eastern Afghan provinces. Last week, in Paktika Province, for instance, Taliban forces launched an ambush against the joint US-Afghan National Army forces, in which seven US soldiers, three Afghan National Army officers and 10 Taliban para-military forces got killed in Ashkin region of that province. Also, two CIA officers got killed in a Taliban ambush in the same region two days later. NA/214 End
