Pak Ranger, Indian civilian killed along border in Jammu

New Delhi, Oct 30, IRNA -- A Pakistani Ranger and an Indian civilian have been killed in exchange of fire between Indian and Pakistani troops along the International Border (IB) in Jammu district since Wednesday evening, official sources said in Jammu Thursday. According to Press Trust of India (PTI), Pakistani troops using small arms, opened fire in Samba sector Thursday morning forcing Indian troops to retaliate effectively. A Pakistani Ranger was killed in retaliatory firing opposite Samba sector this morning, sources said adding that Indian troops saw Pakistani troops carrying the body from the post in an ambulance. A civilian was killed in Satrian village of R S Pura sector of Jammu district when Pakistani troops resorted to heavy firing last evening. Singh was standing in the verandah of his house when bullets fired from across the border pierced his chest, they said adding he succumbed to his injuries immediately thereafter. Exchange of fire between the two sides along IB was also reported from Fatwal, S H Way, Jobowal, Abdulian and Karotna during the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, one constable Sahjahan Singh, of the army who was injured in a mine blast at border outpost at Narainpur in Samba sector Wednesday evening was later hospitalized, the sources said. /213 End
