Lockheed Martin Reorganizes Information Systems Company To Best Support Mission Readiness
Orlando, FL, October 15th, 2003 -- Lockheed Martin today announced the reorganization of its Information Systems business to better position the company for growth and disciplined program performance that supports customer satisfaction and readiness.
The restructuring is designed to provide a stronger focus on new business solutions for emerging customer requirements, increase the company's new business win rate and ensure the consistent application of world-class quality and business processes across Information Systems sites worldwide.
"This reorganization implements my goal of transforming our business from primarily a training and logistics company to one that provides mission readiness solutions to customers over a program's full lifecycle," said Lockheed Martin Information Systems President, Daniel J. Crowley. "The new structure better aligns our team to consistently meet customer expectations and to succeed in growing our business."
Information Systems will streamline from four to two mission areas--Flight Solutions and Ground, Maritime & Civil Solutions--and will create several new focus areas including Advanced Programs, United Kingdom operations and Quality and Enterprise Excellence. Activities under the former mission areas of Support Solutions and Information Technology & Identification Solutions will be encompassed under the new mission areas.
"By creating focus teams such as Biometrics and Homeland Security under our Advanced Programs, we can shape emerging opportunities while building new lines of business and applying our technical creativity to respond to critical national requirements," said Crowley. "We intend to expand upon the foundation of our existing programs by capturing follow-on awards and identifying and winning new business with current and prospective customers."
The reorganization will not immediately impact employment levels at Information Systems, but will overlap with a small reduction in force to be implemented within the next few weeks due primarily to recent contract completions.
Lockheed Martin Information Systems employs half of its approximately 2,800 employees in Orlando, hub of the greatest single concentration of mission-training activity in the nation. Its other sites are located in Fort Worth, TX, Huntsville, AL, Dayton, OH, Fort Walton Beach, FL, Albuquerque, NM, the Washington, D.C. area and the United Kingdom.
