More Pak troops deployed on Afghan border - press

Islamabad, Oct 4, IRNA - Pakistan has deployed more troops close to the border with Afghanistan in a bid to check elements of Al-Qaeda and Taliban. Daily Jang reported in its Saturday issue that after the Thursday operation in South Waziristan Agency, more troops were deployed in the bordering areas. As many as 18 suspects were held during the operation, while 12 were reportedly killed in exchange of fire with Pakistan Army. Pakistan shares long porous border with Afghanistan. Reports have it that Al-Qaeda and Taliban elements might have been hiding and carrying out attacks on the United States and Afghan forces close to Pak-Afghan border. MHA/TSH/211 End
