Turkey against European military HQ
IRNA
Brussels, Oct 3, IRNA -- Turkey`s Ambassador to NATO has voiced opposition to plans by Germany, France, Belgium and Luxembourg to create a separate European military headquarters near Brussels. "Such structures outside of NATO could be a duplication because we think that the current arrangements and opportunities have not been tested fully," Ahmet Uzumcu said in an interview with the website `EUpolitix` Friday. "We are against the EU establishing a collective defence arrangement for its members. We think this should be maintained within the NATO context," he said. The issue is to be discussed today in an informal meeting of EU defence ministers in Rome. NK/AA/210 End
